Adams on Latest Defeat

Coventry City Manager Micky Adams said after City's 1-0 defeat at Stoke City: "Frustration is the key word. I would be worried if we were being beaten by more goals but this if very frustrating.

"No-one wants to get beaten 1-0 but I always want to be in the game with five minutes to go. There were times last season when we were counting down the clock for the end of games.

"We kept going to the death but we have got to be better on the ball. No-one does more passing practice on the training field than we do but we gave away the ball far too cheaply.

He added: "That was true all over the pitch from the front to the back, and when we get a hold of the ball in midfield we have to be braver with it. "Physically we are fine at the moment, mentally we are questionable. "That said, we were beaten by a wonder strike. I was right behind it and it was always going to hit the net."

"There was not much wrong with our play when they went down to 10 men. We got the ball wide and delivered crosses into the box and I felt we should have had a late penalty for handball.

"This was not good enough. We will have to work on the basics and we have to turn some of these one nil defeats into draws or even wins –but as I always say, it is a long season."
