Adams on Crewe

Micky Adams said after the 1-1 draw with Crewe:

"I'm very, very angry about the circumstances at the end of the game and I really shouldn't be giving interviews because the Football Association might be listening and I'll end up in as much trouble as Michael Doyle is going to be in.

"The referee put up six minutes of injury-time and then played eight but I've not spoken to him about it because what's the point? I'll just keep my thoughts to myself.

"But I have spoken to Michael Doyle. We've had a few words already and there will be further words tomorrow but what is said will hopefully remain private.

"He will however, be severely disciplined and fined.

"The sending off was the turning point of the game because at that stage we were 1-0 up, looking comfortable and looking to get our second goal.

"Looking back on those substitutions I don't know whether to pat myself on the back or take out a gun and shoot myself.

"We put on our substitutes in an effort to win the game and then Robert Page went down injured with what now looks like a fractured cheekbone - how can you legislate for that?

"So we were down to nine men before Richard Duffy got a smack in the face, which has left him with three stitches and what we think might be a broken nose.

"We were down to eight men while Richard was getting treatment but even after that had finished the referee didn't seem to want to let him back on."
