Micky Adams like the City supporters who braved the traffic and rain on the M6,was fuming following the defeat at Burnley and said at the after game press conference:" "I can't defend Stephen.

"He has been sent off for foul and abusive language and he's let himself down and his team-mates down.

"He's an experienced professional and I'll be disciplining him. "It's bad enough being 2-0 down with 11 men, but you still have half a chance, but with 10 even that's gone."

Burnley boss Steve Cotterill was far happier saying: "We need that win, make no bones about it. "I needed it, my staff needed it and the fans and the chairman needed it too.

"It's funny because you lose a few games and it's all doom and gloom and we are just thankful because so far we have worked hard and not had too many rewards so hopefully this can kick start us and we can look to the season with excitement rather than trepidation."
