Adams Linked As Blackwell Gets The Sack

According to rumours going round, Micky Adams could be a possible replacement for Kevin Blackwell who was sacked by Leeds United earlier today.

There were calls for Blackwell to go from Leeds supporters during their 1-0 defeat at City on Saturday. Leeds have refused to comment further on the sacking saying on their official website: "The board of Leeds United have today terminated the contract of manager Kevin Blackwell. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Kevin for the work he has put in over the past three-and-a-half years, the past two-and-a-half of which were as manager. No further comment will be made at this time."

Blackwell is the second Championship manager sacked this week following Bryan Robson's dismissal from West Brom.

The rumours putting Micky Adams name in the frame come as no surprise. Adams is a former Leeds player and the good work he has done at Coventry City is bound to attract the attention of other clubs.

According to a press release issued by bookmakers William Hill, Micky Adams is 12-1 to get the job, the same price as Gary McAllister. Dennis Wise is 7-1 with Peter Reid and Gordon Strachan both at 50-1.

They have installed Alan Curbishly who has spurned any interest in the West Brom job as the 5-6 favourite.
