Micky Adams has laughed off Sunday paper speculation linking him with a £200,000 bid for Sheffield United's Paul Thirlwell. Due to the current financial situation, City will not be paying £200,000 for any player.

The City boss is looking to bring in a defender but could face competition from Peter Taylor at Hull City for the services of Matt Heath.
