Former Coventry City player and manager Micky Adams has said that he was annoyed not to have been told that Port Vale CEO Perry Deakin had resigned on Christmas Eve.

"It takes me to chase people to get an answer from the people that are running the football club," Adams, who is in a second spell of managment at Port Vale, told BBC Radio Stoke.

"As the manager, I feel I deserve the respect of people letting me know what's happening at the club.

"I don't know why I wasn't informed but I've been kept very much in the dark.

Adams admits to being concerned about what is going on at Vale Park and added: "Everybody wants a settled football club.

"When the chief executive resigns, the chairman's not around and nobody's talking to you, you have to worry about it.

"The only thing I can promise the fans is that the football side of things is okay and that I'll look after that.

"I'm a professional football manager and that's what I get paid to do."
