The appeal to save the Coventry City Academy has passed the £30,000 mark. Launched at the end of July, with a mission to raise £250,000 to continue to allow the club to bring through players who will eventually grace the first team, the appeal has been backed by City supporters and businesses alike.

A golf day will take place on Wednesday whilst a family day at the Tiger Moth in Ernsford Grange, which saw a bungee jump and the chance for children to take penalties against former Academy keeper Jonny Tuffey is likely to have raised close to £1,500.

Future events in the pipeline include a fans forum before Christmas with guest speakers from Coventry City.

Money raised so far has paid for the Academy to hire and use two minibuses to ferry players to matches when a team coach is not needed and to get players to college etc.

A newsletter with more details of news and events will be sent to all Academy supporters who have signed up shortly.
