There are reports and denials that Coventry born Greg Abbott has four games to save his job.

The former Coventry City youngster, has if the reports are to believed, got to get results against Shrewsbury away on Saturday, Scunthorpe away and in the home matches against Hartlepool and Bury, all sides below the 18th placed Cumbrians in the League One table, in order to retain his job at Brunton Park.

However, Carlisle issued a statement from Chairman Andrew Jenkins saying: “As chairman and on behalf of the board of directors I can confirm that there have been no discussions at all about the manager’s position and there have been no time frames set in any way by any member of the board.

“The views expressed to Radio Cumbria on Tuesday night were not representative of the feeling of the board of directors and are not a reflection of our current stance.”
