Coventry City Interim Assistant Manager & U23's coach Nicky Eaden said a win is a win after the Sky Blues moved in the round three of the EFL Trophy with a 1-0 win over Crawley Town.
Eaden, the rather more palatable choice to Mark Venus, told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: “A win’s a win.
“The players knew that they came up well short on Sunday – some aspects were unacceptable – and they got reminded of that by the staff as well.
“But the workrate was there, the willingness to win their battles, and we had a lot of possession although we didn’t create as much as we should have.
“They made a couple of subs and went for it a bit as you’d expect in a cup tie. Reice Charles-Cook had to pull off one good save – if that goes in who knows what happens– but that’s what keepers are there for and I think we deserved to win.
“We are a young team but sooner or later they’ve got to start growing up because they are in a man’s league. We haven’t got a lot of experience to help them through so they’ve got to step up the mark, and the sooner the better."
