Coventry City Caretaker Manager Lee Carsley has said that is a shame that his side did not get the goals they needed to take the club to Wembley.

Speaking after the 2-0 Johnstones Paint Trophy Northern Area Final Second Leg victory at Crewe, Lee Carsley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: It’s a shame we couldn’t quite pull it off but they gave me everything I asked for.

“We got a real lift when we came out for the warm-up and saw our fans filling two sides of the ground and, as usual, they gave us tremendous support.

“We would have loved to have taken them to Wembley but, as I said before the game, the league is our priority because this club belongs in the Championship.

“We’ll need to win most of our last 13 games to do it, but why not? The players are good enough and they proved tonight that they can match the fans’ passion.”
