Coventry City midfielder Carl Baker has said it is an honour to have captained the Sky Blues.

Baker was given the armband for Wednesday's cup game at Arsenal and could retain it if Kevin Kilbane, who picked up a knock in the defeat to Carlisle is not in the starting eleven to face Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park tomorrow.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Baker said: “It was an honour to captain the club, especially in a game like that – I captained Stockport a few times but not on an occasion like this so I really appreciated it when the gaffer told me.

“I don’t know why he picked me but he knows that I have got a little bit of experience now so perhaps I can help the younger lads through and he knows that I’ll always give 110 per cent on the pitch. I really appreciate it because it is the nicest compliment a manager can give you.”
