A Highly Entertaining Game - Hill

Rochdale manager Keith Hill thought that the League Cup First Round tie against Coventry City was a highly entertaining game for the neutral.

Hill told Dale Player: “I think Coventry are an excellent side but I know what Tony [Mowbray] is like and the way he sets his side up. They’re very, very pleasing on the eye – they rotate players, they’ve got pace and I can see what he’s trying to build. I think they’ll just get better and better.

“I think we were superb for 20-25 minutes, then they changed their shape slightly and probably dealt with us a lot better from that point. We got a tremendous goal but they were bossing possession and it was difficult to stop them.

“The second half belonged to Coventry on the whole, but I think we took over in extra time and possibly should have won it.

“It was a highly entertaining game from a neutral perspective, but I think we showed a hell of a defensive discipline. We made good decisions and stayed in good pockets, especially in the second half when Coventry were dominating possession.

“I’m really pleased that we’re through to the next round.”
