A Great Evening For The Football Club - Shaw

Coventry City Caretaker Manager Richard Shaw has described City's 3-2 win over Birmingham City as a great evening for the football club.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player's Nick Connoll after the victory, Shaw said:"In terms of character, work rate, desire to win balls, desire to close players down I was delighted.

"We talked before the game about the ugly side of football and the boys were excellent. Carl Baker was absolutely outstanding as were the rest of the lads.

"In terms of morale it was a big ganme for us. Andy Thorn losing his job is never nice but we try to move on and we've sat in the dressing room and said that this level of performance is what is expected. You only get one shot in football and you have to make every minute count.

"You have to dig in in this league and get results. After three minutes I ythought 'what am I doing here' but the lads deserved their result and now we put it away tonight and think about Crewe.

"I probably won't sleep tonight after that so I'll drive home thinking about Crewe and probably watch their DVD when I get home because we've set the benchmark now and we have to reproduce this again on Saturday.

"I can't say I enjoyed the first three minutes so much but the night as a whole I loved it. It was a really great evening for the football club."
