The A444 is to become Jimmy Hill Way, Coventry City Council have agreed.

The idea for naming a road after the former Coventry City manager and Chairman was first started by BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's Brody Swain and taken up by the Coventry Telegraph and Bryony Hill, Jimmy’s widow, said to the Coventry Telegraph: “When they said it was the A444, I said Jimmy would have been thrilled to bits.

“He would also be tickled pink because he was a keen golfer and he would say 4,4,4 would be a terrific score to have on his score card!

“I’m terribly proud. The affection Coventry has shown for Jimmy and for him to be credited in this way is just so unexpected. It’s a real honour.

“The fact it’s the link between the old and the new ground is smashing.

“It will be almost a year since his passing and it will make the anniversary all the more poignant.

“I want to say a huge thank you to Coventry for all they’ve done in Jimmy’s memory. It’s been an exceptional few months. I feel so lucky to be associated with him and the city.”
