92 Club Run - In memory of Coventry City fan James Cooper

The opening leg of a nationwide relay around all 92 league football grounds in memory of Coventry City supporter James Cooper and his friend James Kouzaris, who were shot dead in America last year will be completed at Coventry City's match with Ipswich Town on February 4th.

Always a Chance, the newly-formed charity run by friends Paul Davies and Joe Hallett, has organised the relay as its first major fundraiser for its work to steer young people away from a life of violent crime.

The event will see thousands of people taking part in a relay to all 92 football league grounds in the country. Individuals and organisations representing every walk of life will gain sponsorship to run, cycle, free run, skateboard, unicycle, rollerblade, swim or use any other man powered means possible to complete one leg of the journey. The relay will be staged over 12 weeks between February and April 2012 and will cover a staggering 2200 miles across England and Wales. The charity has the full support of the Premier League, Football League and the F.A as well as having secured match day appearances and baton change overs at some of the biggest football clubs in the country.

On Thursday morning Paul and Joe, close friends of James Kouzaris, began the nationwide relay by leaving Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium and running the 32 miles to Coventry City's Ricoh Arena. They will then hand over the baton to a group of James Cooper's close friends on Saturday at the Ricoh Arena during half-time at Coventry's match with Ipswich Town.

Coventry City supporters Ben Webster, Hugh Bates and James McKenzie will then take on the second leg of the relay, by cycling to Villa Park, home of Premier League club Aston Villa.

The relay will then continue throughout England and Wales over the next few months, with the charity hoping to raise in excess of £200,000. For more information on the charity run visit www.92clubrelay.org.uk
