Tonight, City supporters and those of opponents Celtic will have the opportunity to salute the achievements of Richard Shaw in a testimonial at the Arena 8pm.

Shawsy joined the Sky Blues in 1995 with his transfer fee paid for by Mike McGinnity from Crystal Palace. A fine defender who always played with committment and the right attitude,Richard clocked up some 360 first team appearances plus a good number for the reserves.

An excellent team-mate, Richard has also been a rock and a mate to many of the younger players dishing out advice as to what agent to have or other matters. He'll have no shortage of players willing to turn out tonight right from first year Academy players to the most experienced of pros, such has been Shaw's role in team morale.

Richard is a man who has a good reputation with City supporters, always polite, friendly and sociable as well as appreciative of the supporter or company awards that have come his way. Even some of the proceeds from thsi game will go to Coventry charity Babylife. His one goal at Gillingham in a 5-2 victory was a classic and will be long remembered by all those there.
