Sky Blues On The Road - Middlesbrough

Last updated : 26 October 2004 By Covsupport

Not having won in nine matches, Coventry City face a daunting task as they set off up the M1 and A1M travel for Middlesbrough for a League Cup third round tie.

The North East side are one of the few clubs in the Premiership to take this competition seriously and are the current holders, so City will be in for a tough time.

They face a wait to see if Steve Staunton will be eligible to play after appealing against the Irishman’s dismissal at Wigan and are also without Rohan Ricketts who is cup-tied.

Boro Boss Steve McLaren has been dealt a huge blow with the news that Gaizka Mendieta will miss the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury. Former Sky Blue George Boateng is expected to play in what should close to the team that drew on Sunday with Portsmouth.

Tickets are available priced at £14 for adults and £17 concessions (All coaches seats have been sold). City fans are housed in the South Stand and a compulsory seating policy is enforced by gestapoesque stewards
