Sky Blues On The Road - Leicester

Last updated : 08 November 2004 By Covsupport

Two sets of disgruntled supporters will be making their way to the Wa*kers Stadium tonight for the M69 derby. Supporters are disgruntled adter the match was first moved by Leicestershire police due to Leicester Rugby being at home (obvious who is the top team in that city) and then moved to a Monday night by Sky TV, a company which has far too power in the game and no regard for the match going supporter.

Being a Monday and switched at very short notice (what happened to the one month rule?),many supporters especially those from out of the area and without a car will have to settle for watching the game in the pub.

City boss Peter Reid still has doubts over Stern John who missed last week’s draw against Preston North End and will be without Bjarni Gudjonsson who went over on his ankle during City Reserves win at Fulham. He may have Graham Barrett available after the Irishman recovered from a calf injury.

In defence, Adie Williams is expected to keep his place in City’s back four with either Dean Leacock or Richard Shaw replacing Florent Laville who is also doubtful after picking up a knock in the Preston game.

For Leicester, it will be the first home game in charge for new manager Craig Levein. The former Hearts player, (Coventry were the opponents in his testimonial game and beat Hearts 5-1), dropped Dion Dublin for the 2-2 draw at Crewe and the former City and Aston Villa striker is only likely to start on the bench.

Chris Makin who scored the own goal that gave Coventry a draw three weeks ago has also been dropped along with Scott Gemmill and both are likely to be replaced by bookies mate Keith Gillespie and fit again Lee Morris.

Tickets for the game are still available.

Anyone who suffers from epilepsy attending the game is warned that Leicestershire police use flash photography.
