Sky Blues On The Road - Leeds

Coventry City travel to Elland Road tomorrow for a game that will have mixed emotions for Peter Reid. The Sky Blues boss who holds no grudge against his former club said: "When I joined Leeds they had sold a lot of good players. There were much bigger problems at the club than I realised when I joined. But I don't expect a bad reception from the Leeds fans. "I think they will be more worried about supporting their own team."

Reid's main problem is who will slot into the back four following the departure of Calum Davenport to Tottenham and subsequently West Ham. New signing Dean Leacock who joined City on a months loan from Fulham may be given a debut or Andy Whing may come in at right back and Louis Carey switches to centre half, if Whings passes a fitness test on a damaged nose sustained during City Reserves 2-1 win at Leicester on Tuesday.

Both sides have been locked in a battle to sign Stern John this week and according to The Sun, the race has now swung in the favour of the Sky Blues with United boss Kevin Blackwell saying: "I'm not at all disappointed at missing out on him. "The way I look at it, if he doesn't want to come here and play for Leeds, then we don't want him."

Blackwell is expected to keep faith with former Sky Blue Julian Joachim who has yet to score for his new club (worth a quid as first goalscorer I think) and include him in the Yorkshire side's starting eleven.

Defensive duo Stephen Crainey and Clarke Carlisle are doubtful for Leeds. Both players have hamstring injuries.  Matthew Kilgallon, who played for England Under-21's in midweek, is likely to play, but as replacement for Crainey at left back rather than in his favourite position in central defence.
Matthew Spring could also make his debut

It was another former Sky Blue who scored the only goal the last time the two teams met at Elland Road in Robbie Keane. In fact, City wins are something of a rarity with only two in the 35 meetings (1996 3-1 win and in 1977 a 2-1 win).

Tickets are still available at £22 although the coaches are all booked up.

Elland road can be accessed by M1 North to M621. Leave the motorway after 1.5 miles and take the A643 to Elland Road. Parking can be a problem so expect a walk back to your car. Those travelling by train can get a bus to the ground from Swinegate in the City centre.

Whilst Leeds is no longer a hot bed of hooliganism, the stewards make up for this in abundance. Expect needless ejections and to be told to sit down at every available opportunity.

City's U18 side will be hoping to keep their run of victories going as they travel to Crystal Palace, whilst on Sunday, Coventry City Ladies face Cardiff City in a WPL Premier League Cup tie at Coventry Sphinx FC. Kick off is at 2pm and admission is £2 aduilts and £1 concessions.
