Sky Blues On The Road - Crystal Palace

Last updated : 22 November 2005 By Covsupport

On what looks like being another cold winter’s night, Coventry City go in search of their first away win of the season with a trek to Crystal Palace (Kick off at 8pm).

With a quote in the Sunday People saying that George Burley is a possible replacement, there is added impetus on Micky Adams to get the first away league victory and lift some of the pressure on himself and his management team.

Having watched the Eagles win their local derby at his former club Brighton on Sunday, Adams will know what tactics he wants to play at Selhurst Park and should have the same players available as for the draw with Ipswich bar Stephen Hughes who is very doubtful. Michael Doyle looks like he has overcome a hip injury. It is likely that Richard Duffy will come back in for Andy Whing at right back.

Despite the 4-1 drubbing last month, City have done well against Crystal Palace over the years winning thirty four of the eighty eight matches played and drawing twenty nine. The last league game at Selhurst Park between the two sides saw a 1-1 draw.

Tickets are available priced at £25 for adults, a figure which will make many supporters think twice about travelling. City supporters will be housed in the Arthur Waite Stand which is down the side of the pitch.

How To Get There:

By Road:Leave the M25 at Junction 7 and follow the signs for the A23 to Croydon. At Purley bear left onto the A23 at it's junction with the A235 (to Croydon). You will pass roundabouts and junctions with the A232 and A236 as you pass Croydon, after which the A23 bears left at Thornton Heath. Here you must go straight over, into Brigstock Road (B266), passing Thornton Heath Station on your left and bearing right on to the High Street. At the next mini roundabout, (Whitehorse Road/Grange Road) go left into Whitehorse Lane. The ground is on your right.

Street parking. Sainsburys car park is also available for use.

By Rail:The nearest railway stations are Selhurst or Thornton Heath which are served by London Victoria main line station, Clapham Junction, London Bridge (every 30 mins) and East Croydon (every 15 mins). You can also use Norwood Junction station which is also served by Victoria, but is a little further away. It is then a 10-15 minute walk to ground. Please note that Crystal Palace station is nowhere near the ground.

Buses run by the side of the ground from all surrounding areas.
