Coventry City go in search of back to back wins for the first time this season when they take on Stoke City at the Arena tonight at 7.45pm. Having avoided dropping into the bottom three due to Plymouth’s game with Leicester City being abandoned, the Sky Blues know a victory will boost them up the table and keep up the moral gained from Saturday’s 1-0 win over Luton Town.
Micky Adams will be without Gary McSheffrey who is serving a one game suspension after collecting five cautions. Perennial bench sitter Andy Morrell could be given his second start of the season.
Stoke City come to the Arena having lost five out of their last six matches. They will be without Marlon Broomes who was sent off in their 2-0 defeat at Southampton on Saturday. Stoke did appeal against this three match ban but the FA decided that the appeal was “frivolous” and added an extra game. Potters boss Johan Boskamp is also in trouble after comments he is alleged to have made to the referee and Southampton supporters.
Former Sky Blue John Eustace will play no part in the game due to a long standing knee injury.
Last season the game saw City keeper Ian Bennett sent off and Stephen Hughes deputise in goal, playing superbly to earn a 0-0 draw. This will be the 51st meeting of the two clubs with Coventry having won on 21 occasions and drawn seven times.
Tickets are available up until kick off. Leave earlier if you can is the message. The roads around the Arena clearly cannot cope with the volume of traffic that a home game generates and delays again are likely.
