Sent To Coventry - Ipswich Town

Coventry City face a tough game against high flying Ipswich Town on Sunday at Highfield Road in font of the Sky Camera (1pm kick-off).

After the disgraceful 4-1 defeat at Queens Park Rangers, Peter Reid is likely to ring the changes and tried a number of players in a practice game at Northampton on Wednesday which City won 1-0 thanks to an Eddy Johnson goal.

One of those players who took part in that match is Stephen Hughes who has not played since the Rotherham game. The popular midfielder could be given a start and City boss Peter Reid said:"I think he’s a very influential player for us – he’s got a couple of goals, and he’s been on of our most consistent players in the middle of the park so we have missed him and it’s good to have him back. If he’s fit and ready, he’ll play." Hughes is likely to replace Tim Sherwood, a player who has fallen foul of sections of the City support.

Andy Morrell who has been played out of position on the right side of midfield is another who could be dropped if Reid opts to play 4-4-2 and bring in Eddy Johnson.

There may be a change in defence as Louis Carey is struggling with a back injury. Andy Whing is expected to deputise.

Reid may drop defender Matthew Mills whom the City manager does not blame directly for the defeat at Loftus Road saying: "The lad made a couple of mistakes, he knows that and he feels disappointed but he’s in there to do a job for us and overall he has been terrific. "We go out there, we win as a team and we lose as a team. Young players have ups and downs but he’s got plenty of character and if I do play him I don’t think he’ll let anybody down. "It’s difficult to know whether to throw him in or not and it’s a decision I’ll be thinking about. I wouldn’t lay any blame for defeats on him – everyone makes mistakes. You’ve got to give QPR credit because their finishing was fantastic on Tuesday. It’s something I’m thinking about. The strikeforce with Ipswich are of a similar quality but I’m quite confident that if we put the lad in he’ll do a job for us."

Ipswich Town should have keeper Kelvin Davis back in goal. The keeper was replaced during Ipswich's midweek game against Rotherham due to a ricked back but is expected to make Joe Royle's starting eleven.

The game is likely to be marked by the team coming out to the Specials hit "A Message To You Rudy" to mark the 25th anniversary of Two Tone.

Tickets are available and children can get in for a pound in the West Stand and lower Main Stand provided they purchase their tickets before mid day on Saturday.

City U18's travel to Birmingham looking for a repeat of their 2-1 win at Charlton last weekend whilst Coventry City Ladies face Sheffield Wednesday at Coventry Sphinx FC on Sunday with a 2pm kick-off.
