The games are running out for Micky Adams as he attempts to guide the Sky Blues away from the relegation zone.

The City manager knows that he has a tough test tomorrow against Burnley at Highfield Road saying: “We are under no illusions about it being a difficult game. It is vital we beat Burnley on Saturday. It is a home game and you have got to look to win those in this situation.

Adams will be boosted by the return of Stuart Giddings at left back. The Coventry born defender sat out the defeat at Preston with an ankle injury made worse by being rushed back to play against Newcastle in the FA Cup.

As the defender Adams has been tracking all week has not at the time of writing been signed, Dean Leacock is likely to replace Richard Shaw in City’s back four.

Steve Staunton is also available after injury as is midfielder Christian Negouai who went back to Manchester City for treatment to a thigh injury.

Claus Jorgensen is also expected to keep his place in midfield and Craig Reid may keep his place on the bench after a good game for the Reserves on Tuesday night.

If Reid was to get on and Giddings and McSheffrey were also on the field of play, it would be the first time ever that three Coventry born players have played for the first team at the same time and Reid would become the 43rd Coventry born player to play for the first team.

Both former Burnley loanees, Richard Duffy and Dele Adebola are expected to play against the Clarets although Neil Wood will probably miss out.

Burnley boss Steve Cotterill whose side lost 4-0 at Highfield Road last season, has been boosted by the possible return to the squad of Michael Duff who came through a midweek reserve game after missing the last few matches with a calf injury. Frank Sinclair is suspended for the Clarets after being sent off against Leeds last weekend and Lee Roche is likely to take his place.

City U18’s face Watford at the Alan Higgs Centre at 11am. Coventry City Ladies are without a game as their proposed opponents Lincoln City are involved in a county cup tie.
