Coming To Cov - Millwall

Coventry City look for back to back wins in another important Championship fixture tomorrow at the Arena. Unfortunately, City’s opponents are Millwall who are bottom of the table and we all know about Coventry’s record when playing clubs at the foot of the table.

Millwall will be tricky opposition despite having only won three times this season including an away win at Sheffield Wednesday. The Lions have put in some excellent performances of late including leading local rivals Crystal Palace until they were pegged back at Selhurst in the 93rd minute last Saturday. Recently, they have given Sheffield United, Hull City, Leeds United and Birmingham City a good run for their money and beat Norwich City 1-0.

Micky Adams admits that his side is down to the bare bones saying: "We've got injury problems - but we'll get on with it. Giddings, Scowcroft, Heath, Hall, Wood and Hughes are all definitely out at the moment.”

In an ironic twist, Adie Williams could find himself in the City squad facing the team he has just come back on loan from. Micky Adams has said that Williams is part of City’s squad for now but with Millwall fans demanding that manager Colin Lee snaps up the former Reading defender, how long he stays is questionable.

One man not facing his old team is Don Hutchison. The midfielder had a fine game against Plymouth but is not allowed to play against the club which released him a few weeks ago.

Like the Sky Blues, Millwall will field an unsettled team. Barry Hayles is suspended as is Tony Craig, although Hayles also has a knee injury. Colin Lee has doubts over Jamie Vincent (calf strain),Phil Ifil (groin) whilst Carl Asaba is only rated as 50/50.

This will be the 51st meeting between the two sides in all competitions with City having won nineteen and Millwall twenty one. The sides drew 0-0 at The Den earlier in the season. Last season, City lost 1-0 at Highfield Road. Referee is Mr T.Leake.

Tickets are available.

There is a road closure order which has come into effect around the Arena. Rowleys Green Road,Cornonel Ave and Judds Lane will be close from 2pm until 6pm for a 3pm kick off. Access will be for permit holders only with all vehicles held back for approximately fifteen minutes after the final whistle to allow pedestrians to leave safely.

City U18’s look for a win against Reading tomorrow to make up for the disappointment of going out of the FA Youth Cup at Manchester City in midweek and to erase the memory of a 7-1 thrashing at the hands of the Royals earlier in the season. Kick off at the Alan Higgs Centre is at 11am and admission is free.

Coventry City Ladies face Leicester City in a local derby on Sunday. Kick off at Coventry University’s Westwood Heath ground is at 2pm.
