WHO ARE THEY?
Formed in 1904, the club rented out Hull Rugby League's ground. The Rugby League did ban football clubs from playing on RL grounds but by then Hull City were at Anlaby Road yards away from their latest KC Stadium home. Their first Football League game was in 1905.

Close to bankruptcy on a number of occasions, Hull had two successive promotions and retained their place in the Championship last season.

TEAM NEWS
David McNamee and Michael Mifsud remain as doubts for Iain Dowie's side. Kevin Thornton is out for 6-8 weeks with an ankle injury whilst Arjan De Zeeuw is still injured.

Hull have doubts about Bryan Hughes, who has been suffering with a groin and back problem but scans this week have proved no serious problems and the summer signing from Charlton should be fit for the game.

ON THE GAME
Iain Dowie has warned about getting carried away after the wins at Barnsley and in the League Cup against Notts County.

Said the City boss to the club website: "We have two victories, scored seven goals and conceded only once, which was a penalty, so that's pleasing, "The lads have all performed because they worked so hard in pre-season -
I think that has been a key factor in our two good performances so far. "But it's very important we don't get carried away because Saturday's game against Hull will be a difficult game.

"They have spent a bit of money in the summer, in terms of wages and transfer fees, and have been in the market for the likes of Richard Cresswell who went to Stoke and Alan Lee at Ipswich for large sums. "I think Hull will be very competitive this year, they finished last season very well under Phil Brown, who knows his way around a decent football team.
