Coming To Cov - Crewe Alexandra

Having unluckily been beaten in a Boxing Day fixture at Leeds United, Coventry City need a full compliment of points from the game at home to Crewe Alexandra (7.45pm kick off) in order to avoid being sucked into the scrap for places just above the relegation zone or to move up four places in the table.

Micky Adams kept the same team that had beaten QPR for the game against Leeds but may make changes. Matt Heath could replace Richard Shaw at the back whilst the City boss also has the options of using Kevin Thornton, James Scowcroft, Stern John, Andy Impey or Craig Reid.

Crewe who are only in this division thanks to some highly questionable defending by the Sky Blues in the final Championship game on May 8th last season, have doubts over Michael Higdon who has a stomach strain and Adie Moses who limped off during Alex’s draw with Hull on Monday.

Whilst the game is not in doubt, it will be cold tonight so wrap up.

Last season, Crewe completed the double over the Sky Blues winning 1-0 at Highfield Road and 2-1 at Gresty Road which saved their bacon for another season. This is the 17th meeting between the two clubs with City having won on nine occasions with three draws.

There is a road closure order which has come into effect around the Arena. Rowleys Green Road,Cornonel Ave and Judds Lane will be close from 6pm until 10pm for a night kick off. Access will be for permit holders only with all vehicles held back for approximately fifteen minutes after the final whistle to allow pedestrians to leave safely. The Radford Road is now open again.
