They were accepted into the Football League in 1901 and won their first ever Div 2 game with a 2-0 win at Blackpool.

The Robins made it into the top flight in 1976 and will be remembered by Coventry City supporters for a 2-2 draw at Highfield Road which saw both sides stop up at the expense of Sunderland. They were relegated in 1980 and have not been in the top flight since.

Twice League Cup runners-up and FA Cup runners up in 1909, City have won the LDV Vans Trophy, The Freight Rover Trophy and the Welsh Cup. ,

Their current manager is Gary Johnson who was linked to the City managers job but lost out to Micky Adams.

ON THE GAME
Micky Adams said: "When I took over, we were staring at League One. We pulled ourselves out of it and finished eighth last season and our most valuable player has been sold. "Those are the facts. I'm not asking for pity. I would just like people to think about the situation rationally. We are having a difficult time, but it can turn around quickly. "The FA Cup has been used by other managers to kick-start their season, and with 90 minutes' hard graft, there is no reason why we cannot do the same."

Bristol City's Louis Carey said: 'Coventry are going through a bad spell and the manager is under pressure so if we make a good start we can get the home fans on their backs
