Specials Special Painting For Village Aid

On Saturday night as part of the huge Village Aid fundraiser concert at The Hub Coventry University, Specials bass-man has donated a unique painting of a rare Specials a Horizon demo cassette.

Concert goers will get a chance to bid on this amazing one of a kind item in a silent auction on the night. Lynval Golding has already donated a stage suit that is currently selling on E-Bay.

Other rare items on auction on the night include a 2-Tone Cafe tabletop signed by all of the Specials, a copy of the Selecter album Made in Britain signed by all the band, a copy of the 2-Tone compilation album This Are Two Tone, signed by Roddy Byers, Pauline Black, Dave Wakeling, Paul Heskett, Horace Panter & Nev Staple and we also have a wonderful unique piece of art work by Horace Panter a painting of a Specials Horizon Studio demo cassette, these can only be bid for on the night. Village Aid is here on Saturday night at the brand new Hub building at Coventry University (opposite the old Odeon now Ellen Terry), seven bands, four top DJ’s and loads of special faces, for just ten pounds, pay on the night. Coventry Market, Coventry University Students' Union and The Best of Coventry are sponsoring six hours of great music and merriment all for two great causes to help develop a music museum in Coventry and to benefit Teenage Cancer Trust by the release of The Paul Williams Specialized album project.

Members of the Specials and The Selecter will be there on the night, plus tabloid guru Garry Bushell and seven amazing bands; The 2-Tone Collection, Orange Street, Stone Foundation, The Tones, The Rough Kutz and Roddy Byers, This Modern Youth and Filthy Cake all hosted by “Mr. Coventry” Touch FM’s Brody Swain.

2-Tone Central Director Julie Chambers said: "The line up speaks for itself, it’s going to be a stellar night of entertainment for just ten pounds, and not only that but the money it will raise will help in the creation of a Coventry music museum for the city and will also go to help teenagers whose lives have been turned upside down with cancer.

This part of a busy weekend for 2-Tone Central-With the next Coventry Music Wall of Fame event at 4.00pm on Friday at The 2-Tone Village and Garry Bushell’s book signing also at the Village at 2.00pm on Sat (24th March), the public are invited to both events.
