In November The Coventry Music Museum celebrates its third Birthday, so expect some celebratory shenanigans at the museum on 12th November at noon, when guest of honour, Coventry's own singing sensation Mark Rattray cuts the cake and spills the beans as part of this Big Lottery Fund Sponsored Sounding Off event.

Mark, who is known for his superb voice and was famously the last winner of original TV talent show Opportunity Knocks in 1990 (and has promised to loan the museum his trophy), but after two decades of showbiz, he hung up his microphone and is now working as a paramedic. Director Curator Pete Chambers BEM  will be asking Mark about his career, as the audience will get a chance to put a question to one of Coventry's best loved entertainers.

The Coventry Music Museum has seen over 12,000 visitors from of course the Midlands, and all over the UK and sixty-six countries of the world. For two years running it has won the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, and was a double winner in the Coventry Telegraph's People Choice awards, winning the Best Family Attraction and The Best Independent Venue Categories. It has remained in the top two of best ranked attractions in Coventry for nearly three years, its number five in the best ranked attractions in the West Midlands, and number two in best ranked museums in the West Midlands. Director Curator Pete Chambers  said of the anniversary, "I think we have done well for  a small independent museum, run entirely by volunteers. I'm proud to have helped made this happen, long may we continue, especially as we journey deeper into the City of Culture bid, where we hope Coventry music will play an important part".

The Coventry Music Museum is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, last entry at 3.30pm
