UPDATE Neol Davies is now performing a DJ set on the night!!!!

Last gig at 2-Tone Central

Coventry’s trailblazing 2-Tone museum, 2-Tone Central is about to move to bigger premises in the Stoke area of the city. Before they leave however there is to be one big final Fundraiser gig at the Coventry University location.

Marketing Manager Andy Mac said, “We are going out with a big bang (and a big band in fact) on 13th August, with the sensational Orange Street, they played at 2-Tone Central earlier this year and blew everyone away. This time there will be lots of Special guests, including Specials legend Horace Panter and Ray King, plus many more to be added, it’s also the last gig ever at what was once The Lanch, so historic stuff all round”.

In support will be ‘The Three’, making their debut, the band includes former Specials drummer Silverton and former Dub Jam Forces Tim Healey and Andre K Bill. An auction of one-of-a-kind signed memorabilia is up for grabs on the night too, with Brody Swain from Touch FM as Grand Auctioneer and MC.

Director Julie Chambers reveals that 2-Tone Central is moving to the Ball Hill/Walsgrave Road area of the city. “We are working closely with Geoff and Bernie Holden and their impressive ska mod retail outfit 2-Tone Corner, who are already based at the Courtyard there. Between us we plan to turn the area into a kind of 2-Tone Village. Providing the area with the 2-Tone Museum, a large retail store, a 2-Tone Cafe and an Anglo Caribbean restaurant, and that’s just for starters. It’s a natural progression from what has already been created at The University”.

Tickets for this for this historic fundraiser are £15, and are available from www.2tonecentral.co.ukand from Midnight Records in Coventry Market and Skopes Menswear, West Orchards. Also from 2-Tone Corner, The Courtyard, R/O 74-80 Walsgrave Rd, Coventry,CV2 4ED (entrance gates next to pedestrian crossing by Whetstone Jewellers).
