Kate Nash visits 2-Tone Central
Last Saturday 2-Tone Central, Coventry’s own 2-Tone Museum, was visited by none other than hit songstress Kate Nash, famous for her Cockney tinged songs like “Foundation” and “Do Wah Doo”.
Kate was performing a DJ set at this year’s superb Coventry University Students’ Union Summer Ball (along with Grime Rapper Tinchy Stryder and Drums n Bass kings Chase & Status). On entering the museum she immediately signed the guest book and made a beeline for the Pauline Black standee and was happy to pose for pictures.
2-Tone Central Director Pete Chambers said, “She was delightful, it’s so important for the museum to keep having visitors like Kate, people hear of her visit and it helps to catch the eye of someone who may never have heard of 2-Tone. I asked her if she was aware of 2-Tone, and was quick to mention The Specials. I showed her our Rude Boys bedroom, explaining that so many guys of a certain age look at it and declare, “That’s my Bedroom. She took a shine to it too, and thought it was great! Which in her own words I reckon was “intelligent input, darlin”.
2-Tone Central based at Coventry University Students’ Union, Priory Street, was opened last October, and is dedicated to celebrating, educating and entertaining in the multicultural spirit of the 2-Tone Record Label.
