DAVE WAKELING's BEAT RETURNS TO 2-TONE ROOTS

Dave Wakeling is bringing The English Beat from California to Coventry to perform at 2-Tone Central Central, April 30th.

Wakeling said "it was important to me to bring the band to where 2-Tone Tone started; in fact we'll be just yards away from where the Beat agreed to be on the Two Tone label, in the Lanchester poly bar in 1979!"

Pete Chambers 2-Tone Director said, "We are very excited that The English Beat are playing at 2-Tone Central, this is a really huge gig for us, and the only Midlands date for the band. Dave Wakeling is one of our Honorary Patrons, so it's going to be a special day for all involved and one not to miss"

The band will be joined onstage by very special guests Roddy Byers of the Specials, Rhoda Dakar of the Bodysnatchers, and Jenny Bellestar Matthias of the Bellestars, for what promises to be a wonderful celebration of 2-Tone, and also of the tremendous work put into the 2-Tone Central venue by Pete Chambers, to keep the story alive.

Tickets are £15.00, and are available from

About The English Beat:

The English Beat's irresistible blend of ska, reggae, and punk has made them undeniable stars throughout the last three decades and, beginning with their 1980 debut I Just Can’t Stop It. As a tes-tament of their longetivity, their music has been heard recently in Hot Tub Time Machine ("Save It for Later"), Shrek Forever After ("Click Click"), television shows (TBS's Glory Daze), and even in Target commercials ("Tenderness" as their post-English Beat break up band, General Public). Among the other uber-memorable hits include "Mirror In The Bathroom", "I Confess", "Doors of Your Heart", and "Tears of a Clown" among many others.
