Coventry Music Museum Number One In Hit Parade

Last updated : 14 February 2016 By CMM

The Coventry Music Museum is proud to announce that not only is it the number one place to go in Coventry on Trip Advisor, it is also the number one museum in the West Midlands.

This is an amazing feat for this recently expanded independent museum, that is just over two years old. Museum Director Julie Chambers said, "it's just incredible to be in this position, we have been tops in Coventry for about two years now, but being the top rated museum in the West Midlands is a tremendous achievement for us and for the city of Coventry.  It means that we are ahead of attractions like the Black Country Museum, The Birmingham Art Gallery and Museum and even Cadbury world. Not bad for a museum with a tiny infrastructure and no paid staff. We know that this ranking is by no means definitive, but there again Trip Advisor is the largest and most respected site of this type in the travel industry".  it's worth pointing out that the CMM is also ranked third best attraction in the entire West Midlands too.

The museum recently welcomed it's 9000th visitor, and has attracted guests from 55 countries, from every continent. It's Curator Pete Chambers was recently honoured in the Queens New Years Honours with a BEM for his volunteering  work at the museum.  He said, "I had the dream of a Coventry Music Museum for many years, I felt it would go well if we could make it happen, but I never expected such success. We have an amazing team of volunteers. we love them, and so does the public, everyone is treated like a pop star at our museum. People who visit can't believe just how much great music came out of our region. It's exciting times for Coventry especially  with the City of Culture bid, and we offer our total support to that of course.

The Coventry Music Museum (www.covmm.co.uk) is open Thursday to Sunday 10.00am to 4.00pm (last entry 3.30pm), it can be found on Ball Hill, Walsgrave Road, CV2 4ED. The museum has just launched a permanent display dedicated to electronics music pioneer Delia Derbyshire, and a temporary Exhibition dedicated to the Specials Bass guitarist "On Bass-Sir Horace Gentleman" opens on February 28th.
