Chris Woakes helped Warwickshire County Cricket Club declare on the second day of their County Championship game against Derbyshire at Derby.

Play did not start until 1pm due to rain with 21 overs lost and when the second day's events got underway, Chris Woakes, who started the day 102 not out,  worked with Maurice Chambers to put on 166 for ninth wicket.

That came when Chambers was stumped by Pointon off the bowling of Wainwright for 58.

Warwicks batted on for eight more runs to allow Woakes to reach the 150 mark and when he was on an unbeaten 152 from 273 balls, they declared on 391-9.

Warwicks got into the Derbyshire openers from the start and Keith Barker struck, having Slater trapped lbw for two with only two runs on the board.

Chambers bowled the second over and had Madsen caught by Chopra after making a single, before Barker took the third wicket in the fifth over, when he had the second opening batsman Paul Barrington caught by Chris Woakes.

Shiv Chanderpaul hit an unbeaten 24 but Chambers had Johnson caught by Birthday Boy Rikki Clarke for four, which was the same amount that Alex Hughes went for when he was caught behind by Poynter to give Barker a third wicket and see Derbyshire 44-5 at the close.
