Wickets Tumble At Edgbaston

The wickets tumbled at Edgbaston today on the opening day of Warwickshire's County Championship game with Durham.

Durham batted first and were 12-1 in the eighth over when Chris Wright had Smith caught behind by Tim Ambrose.

Collingwood added only four before he was trapped lbw by Barker. Michael Di Venuto made 29 but with the score on 50, he became Wright's second victim.

Blenkinstein had made eleven when he was trapped lbw by Jeetan Patel before Barker had Ben Stokes who had hit 35 by Tim Ambrose

Two ball later, Barker had Mustard caught with out scoring and another three balls on, he had Borthwick caught by Ian Bell to see Durham floundering on 99-7.

The same duo combined to remove Thorp and although Blackwell and Graham Onions added 49 for the eighth wicket, Wright took both their wickets removing Blackwell for 19 and Onions for 36 to see Durham all out for 163 in 50.3 overs.

Warwicks went into bat and Varun Chopra lasted five balls before he was out caugh by Collingwood off the bowling of Onions. Will Porterfield faired not much better making two runs from six balls before being bowled by Thorp.

In came Jon Trott who also added two runs before he lost his wicket to leave Warwicks on 5-3.

Captain Jim Troughton added a single but Ian Bell who made an unbeaten 59 and Darren Maddy who made 35 before he was caught by Di Venuto saw Warwicks close on 116-5.
