Westra Wins Three Days Of De Panne

Lieuwe Westra of Astana has won the Three Days of De Panne race in Belgium.

The final stage was a 14.2km time trial in De Panne and saw Postlberger set the early fastest time with a time of 18:42. That lasted until Maciej Bodnar finished in 17.39.28

Tom Bohli was the nearest to get to that time, finishing just .71 of a second slower than Bodnar.

Alexander Kristoff of Katusha was the last man down the ramp as Tony Martin finished second quickest.

Liuewe Westra finished in 17.42 needing to beat Kristoff by twelve seconds before Lutsenko finished in 18.03 to drop into third place.

That mean Kristoff needed 17.54 or less to win overall but it was not to be and he finished in 18.07 and Maciej Bodnar won the stage and Lieuwe Westra of Astana took the overall victory by thirteen seconds from Kristoff and six seconds from Lutsenko.

Bodnar said about his stage win: "I am very happy with the way it has gone. I am be delighted to be sharing the podium with the two guys and to have beaten the world champion is a pleasure for me."

Westra said: "The pressure did not go away and I was very nervous. I did not want to be second again. My feeling was not great but my timing was fast. I have good legs and a good team and today I took De Panne which is an important victory."
