Weening Takes Tour De Suisse Stage Six

Roompot's Pieter Weening took the victory on stage six of the Tour De Suisse.

Another wet day on a 162.8km stage from Weesen to Amden saw Pierre Latour (AG2R La Mondiale) in the race lead and Gregory Rast (Trek-Segafredo), Philipe Gilbert (BMC), Kristijan Koren (Cannondale), Pim Ligthart, Tosh Van der Sande (Lotto Soudal), Iljo Keisse, Maximiliano Richeze (Etixx-QuickStep), Kévin Reza (FDJ), Martin Elmiger (IAM), Jasha Sütterlin (Movistar), Maciej Patkersi (CCC), Nico Brüngger (Roth), Pietr Weening and Antwan Tolhoek (Roompot), and Jordi Simon (Verva Active-Pro Jet) get away after 25kms.

On the final climb, the break was over and with 7.5kms left, Pieter Weening went away as riders started to drop away including the race leader.

Weening continued with the pace and won the race in 4:33:47, some 2.37 ahead of Maximiliano Richeze of Etixx Quick Step and 3.57 ahead of Maciej Paterski of CCC Sprandi Polkowice.

Wilco Kelderman of Team LottoNl-Jumbo leads the race by sixteen seconds from Warren Barguill.
