Warwickshire County Cricket Club beat Worcestershire by nine runs tonight in a Twenty/20 match.

In a rain restricted match at Edgbaston which Warwickshire needed to win to ensure home advantage in the Quarter-Final, it was Worcestershire who won the toss when play did get underway and put Warwicks into bat.

Warwicks were soon in trouble losing Neil Carter who was caught and bowled by Ali first ball and then Keith Barker who was caught by Mitchell to give Ali his second wicket.

Jim Troughton made 18 and Darren Maddy 27 but Jon Trott was in good form. The England international finished not out 53 from 38 balls, hitting six fours as Warwicks closed on 112-4 from their alloted 15 overs.

Vicram Solanki was out first ball to a terrific catch by Jim Troughton diving to his right off the bowling of Neil Carter and Jayasuriya was also out first ball when he was caught by Darren Maddy to see Worcestershire on 14-2.

Ali made a rapid 23 before he was also caught by Maddy. Alexei Kerveezee hit 35 before he was caught by Clarke. Then Manuel was bowled by Stefan Piolet.

Worcestershire needed 24 off the final over but didn't get them, losing the wicket of Andrew in the process and Warwicks won by nine runs to make sure of a home draw.
