Warwickshire County Cricket Club got their T20 campaign off to a 63 run defeat at Somerset

Warwicks, who lost captain Jim Troughton in the warm up, won the toss at Taunton and opted to field. In the third over, Warwicks took their first wicket when Kieswetter, who had made 20 of Somerset's 22 was caught by Chris Wright off the bowling of Chris Woakes. There was some initial confusion as to whether he was out but the third umpire confirmed that the catch was good and Kieswetter trudged back to the pavilion.

Woakes then struck again sixteen runs later when Trego fired into mid-wicket for Darren Maddy to take the catch.

In the tenth over, Woakes was involved in the third wicket of the innings when he caught Buttler who had made 15 form the bowling of Jeetan Patel and seeing Somerset on 77-3.

South African Richard Levi and Albi Morkel moved the score on to 144 before Levi who had made 69 from 34 balls including four sixes and six fours, was caught by Woakes to give Maddy a wicket.

Morkel was run out for 38 and Compton was caught in the penultimate  over by Chris Wright to give Barker a wicket as Somerset closed on 191-6.

Evans and Varun Chopra opened for Warwicks and made thirteen runs from the first two overs. That moved onto 29-0 after four overs, taking the runs required rate up to ten an over.

In the last of the powerplay overs, Laurie Evans, who had made 17, was bowled by former Warwicks player Alphonse Thomas to see Warwicks on 40-1.

However that started a collapse with Porterfield going for four, Darren Maddy out first ball and when Chopra was stumped after making 37, Warwicks were 67-4.

Clarke made six, Barker three and Woakes for seven for only thirteen runs scored.

Stefan Piolet and Richard Johnson both made double figures but when Johnson went for thirteen  followed by Patel for a single, Warwicks were on 115-9 in the 18th over.
