Warwickshire batsman Jonathan Trott has withdrawn from the England cricket team which is currently in Australia for the latest Ashes series.

Trott has withdrawn due to a long standing stress related illness and told BBC Sport: "I don't think it is right that I'm playing knowing that I'm not 100%.

"I cannot currently operate at the level I have done in the past.

"My priority now is to take a break from cricket so that I can focus on my recovery."

Trott has received plenty of support not only from Warwickshire County Cricket club and Warwickshire supporters but England fans all over the world and he tweeted: "Thank you for all the kind messages. I can’t, of course, answer them all - that would take longer than my longest innings. I am so grateful."

England have said they will not call up a replacement.
