Warwickshire All Out Before Lunch

Warwickshire County Cricket Club got off to a disasterous start to their County Championship campaign by being skittled out for 87 before lunch on the opening day of their County Championship game with Sussex at Edgbaston.

Chris Jordan had Warwicks in trouble early removing Varun Chopra for one and Laurie Evans for four. In came skipper Ian Bell but he lasted eight ball with scoring before Jordan had him caught.

Jon Trott and Tim Ambrose added forty four before the wicket keeper was caught by Yardy.

Woakes then went for three, Clarke for four and Barker for a duck before Trott who top scored with 33 was out, bowled by Magoffin.

Warwicks were now on 84-8 and three more runs were added by Jeetan Patal but the wickets of Wright and Oliver Hannon-Dalby were lost and Warwicks were all out for 87 before lunch.

At tea, Sussex were 162/3 with Ed Joyce making an unbeaten century. Keith Barker, Chris Woakes and Oliver Hannon-Dalby took the wickets of Wells, Yardy and Hamilton-Brown.

In the final session, Woakes had Machan caught behind by Ambrose for 19, Jeetan Patal had Zaidi trapped lbw for six and in the 51st over, Rikki Clarke had Ed Joyce caught by Jon Trott after he had made 117 which included seventeen fours.

Keith Barker had Brown caught by Clarke who had Jimmy Anyon caught without scoring and then Barker took his third wicket by having Chris Jordan caught by Ambrose.

Chris Wright mopped up the final wicket of Lewis to see Sussex all out for 229, a lead of 142 at stumps.
