Warwicks Win Opening T20 Game

Warwickshire County Cricket Club started their T20 season with a five wicket victory at Durham.

Warwicks won the toss and put Durham Dynamos in to bat. The home side made 54 off their first powerplay of six overs on a glorious day.

They had made 77 when Muchall was caught by Miller off the bowling of Stefan Piolet.

A second wicket came eleven runs later, when Phil Mustard who had made 38 from 39 balls was caught by Jim Troughton and another wicket for Piolet who finished with figures of 2-19.

The score had moved on to 117 when Paul Collingwood was caught by Porterfield after making seven in the sixteenth over.

Ian Blackwell made an unbeaten 46 but good bowling restricted Durham to 151-3 from their 20 overs.

Neil Carter got stuck into the Durham bowler but after making seventeen out of 21, he hit a tame shot to third man and was caught in the second over.

The fifty for the Bears came after five and a half overs and with the score on 62, Varun Chopra, who had made eleven, swept the ball to Ian Blackwell for an easy catch.

Will Porterfield reached fifty from only thirty balls as Warwicks reached 88-2 at the halfway stage.

Jim Troughton gave Rushworth a catch to see him out for 18 and Warwicks still needing 46 more runs.

The score had moved onto 130 when Darren Maddy who had made eleven when he was caught by Mitchell Claydon.

Needing one run to win, Will Porterfield who had made 83, got himself run out before a Rikki Clarke straight drive gave Warwicks a five wicket victory in 18.1 overs.

Warwicks play at Yorkshire tomorrow
