Warwicks Win First CB40 Game

Warwickshire County Cricket Club won their first CB40 game of the season when they beat Northamptonshire by six wickets at Edgbaston.

Northampton batted first and had put on 39 before Chris Wright had O'Brien caught by Chopra.

Eleven runs later, Rikki Barker had his first wicket when he bowled Wakely who had made 24.

It was 87-3 when Clarke caught and bowled Sales and then Barker removed Kyle Coetzer who had made 44 from 41 balls.

Andrew Miller was next to take a wicket for Warwicks when he bowled Peters who had made 22 in the 29th over.

Andrew Hall made an unbeaten 52 at the other end as Barker finished with figures of 3-41 after he had de Lange caught by Ian Bell.

David Willey provided another wicket for Wright as Northamptonshire closed their innings on 209-7.

When Warwicks batted, they lost Jon Trott for ten. Ian Bell and Varun Chopra went on to make 57 before Chopra was caught by O'Brien after making 39.

Will Porterfield added five and Jim Troughton seven but Ian Bell who went on to make an unbeaten 82 from 84 balls and Rikki Clarke who made 54 from 44 balls saw Warwicks through to a deserved victory.
