Warwickshire County Cricket Team found the game getting away from them today on the opening day of their County Championship game with Durham.

Having their appeal for eight points docked due to a poor pitch rejected, Warwicks started the day third in the County Championship and had to name thirteen players as Will Porterfield and Boyd Rankin go on international duty with Ireland on Thursday.

Second place Durham batted first on a different wicket to the one Warwicks had beaten Worcestershire on, after winning the toss.

They had made 36 when Di Venuto was caught behind by Tim Ambrose off the bowling of Tahir.

Muchall had one let off when the ball hit the stumps but did not dislodge the bails but a few balls later, he was caught by Maddy off the bowling of Clarke for 22.

Darren Maddy was involved for third wicket which came when he caught Stokes who had made 33 to see Durham on 127-3.

Will Smith and Dale Blenkinstein came together and started to punish the Warwicks attack. Smith passed the century mark and went on to make 153 not out with Blenkinstein 90 not out as Durham closed on 348-3.

Warwicks Second Eleven were in a double header against Worcestershire at Ombersley. Worcs won the first game by 8 wkts and the second game by 77 runs.
