Warwicks Thrash Derbyshire

Warwickshire County Cricket Club hammered Derbyshire by 109 runs in a CB40 game at Derby.

Derbyshire won the toss and put Warwicks into bat. Will Porterfield had made three of Warwickshire's six runs when he caught behind by the bowling of Turner.

Varun Chopa and Jim Troughton added 35 before Chopra was removed by the same combination which had taken the first wicket.

Troughton moved onto 34 before a mix up saw him run out by Knight to see Warwicks on 66-3. Tim Ambrose who went on to make an unbeaten 77, came together with Darren Maddy and the pair put on ninety runs before Maddy was bowled by Knight after making forty runs.

Rikki Clarke came in and hit three sixes in an innings of 48 before he was caught by Park with the score on 232.

Six runs later, Chris Woakes was out for four and Warwicks completed their forty overs on 242-6.

Woakes was first to bowl and his revenge for being bowled was sweet. Redfern, hit a single of the first ball off the innings. Woakes then bowled Hughes. His third ball was a wide but with first ball, he had Durston caught behind by Tim Ambrose to see Derbyshire on 2-2.

In the fourth over, Derbyshire captain Wayne Madsen lose his wicket when he was caught by Clarke off the bowling of Chris Wright after making twelve of the home side's twenty five runs.

Chris Woakes then bowled and had Redfern caught by Tim Ambrose.

In came Stefan Piolet to take the wickets of Whiteley, Park and Poynton to leave Derbyshire in trouble on 86-7.

Jeetan Patel had Hughes caught by Ambrose and Piolet recorded figures of 4-31 from eight over when he had Turner trapped lbw.

Only Jon Clare offered any resistance, top scoring with 57 but he edged a catch to Patel off the bowling of Wright, Derbyshire were all out for 137. 

Warwickshire Women beat Staffordshire by nine wickets.

Grundy took 3-8 and Bec Morrell took 2-10  as Staffs were skittled out for 82.  Amy Jones hit an unbeaten 56 as Warwicks reached 83-1 in  22 overs. 

Warwickshire are in County Championship action at Durham starting tomorrow. Play is due to start at The Emirates at 11am.
