Warwickshire County Cricket Club were beaten by 10 runs in a T20 game against Nottinghamshire.

At Trent Bridge, this afternoon, Notts batted first against a Warwickshire side which saw Chris Woakes in for Ant Botha.

Woakes first ball in T20 cricket this season saw him hit for six by Rikki Wessels but Woakes had the last laugh when Jim Troughton caught him a run later.

Notts started to make runs and were 40-1 after four overs and the fifth over saw twelve runs added to the total.

The score had gone up to 95 when Adam Voges (39) was bowled by Stefan Piolet in the tenth over.

Two overs later, Warwicks picked up their third wicket when danger man David Hussey (6) was caught by Will Porterfield to give Piolet a second wicket.

Alex Hales had been one of the Notts players responsible for their run rate, hitting ten fours but his time at the crease was ended when he was bowled after making 67 by Darren Maddy.

With fifteen overs gone, Notts were on 127-4. They lost Read for six and Mullaney (8) who was caught by Woakes in the final over as Notts ended their twenty overs on 173-6 with Samit Patel ending on 37 not out.

Warwickshire lost Varun Chopra when he was caught for a first ball duck, then Will Porterfield was out for eight and when Neil Carter who hit four fours was out for seventeen, The Bears were 28-3 in in the fourth over.

Darren Maddy and Jim Troughton came in but could not find the same run rate as Notts had.

At the half way stage, Maddy had been caught and bowled by Mullaney and Warwicks were on 72-4.

After 12.3 overs, Voges caught Troughton off Patel for 24 from 26 deliveries to leave The Bears on 89-5.

Seventeen more runs had been added when Clarke was out for 17 and with the score on 133, Tim Ambrose was caught after making eleven.

Chris Woakes came in and hit 44 from 19 balls, including two sixes and five fours but Warwicks finished their twenty overs on 163-7 some ten runs short.
