Warwickshire County Cricket Club piled on the runs on the second day of their County Championship game with Surrey at Guildford.

Warwicks resumed on 359-3 but lost Varun Chopra after adding only five runs to his overnight tally of 187, when he gave a catch to de Bruyn off the bowling of Jade Dernbach, who went on to take the wickets of Tim Ambrose for 84 and Rikki Clarke for six before lunch.

The afternoon session saw Ateeq Javid and Keith Barker come together at the crease and they started to make runs. The pair had taken Warwicks through the four hundred, five hundred and six hundred mark in a stand of 211 when Javid was caught behind by Wilson after making 85, meaning that the third 150+ partnership in a Warwicks innings for the first time since the game against Nottinghamshire at Edgbaston in 1931, was over.

Clarke had passed the century mark but went three runs later after being trapped lbw by Roy for 125.

Tom Milnes came in and added fifteen runs but when he went, Warwicks decided to declare on a mammoth 631-9, their highest ever against Surrey, from 138.4 overs.

Surrey were 46-0 in the 20th over.
