Warwicks In A Strong Position

Warwickshire County Cricket Club were in a strong position on the second day of their County Championship game with Sussex at Arundel.

Resuming on 58-0, the Bears had added 19 more before Varun Chopra was out just after he had completed his fifty. In the 56th ball he faced, he was bowled by former Warwickshire bowler Jimmy Anyon.

Westwood and Will Porterfield came together and put on another 101 before Westwood was out 72. The Irishman also lost his wicket for 56 bowled by Wright.

Before tea, Warwicks who had made 196 had lost a fourth wicket when Jim Troughton was out for four.

In the final session and just before they picked up maximum batting points, Tim Ambrose lost his wicket, followed by Darren Maddy who had put together a good innings was out for 72.

Warwicks closed on 370-6.
