Warwickshire County Cricket Club were in a very strong position on the third day of their County Championship game with Somerset at Edgbaston.

Warwicks put on fifty runs in the morning session but lost the wickets of Woakes, Rankin and Millar as they were all out for 448 in 138.1 overs.

That put Somerset some 186 runs behind. Suppiah was caught by Metters for ten with the score on 21. Sixty eight runs were added before Metters took a wicket when Marcus Trescothwick hit a shot which hit Ian Westwood but the former Warwicks skipper was able to hold on to the rebound.

Nick Compton was making runs but at the other end, Somerset lost six wickets wickets in the space of forty runs. Hildreth and Kieswetter were both trapped lbw, Rikki Clarke bowled Gregory and Trego and had Hussain caught, whilst Kartik was another lbw victim for Metters.

They did get the 186 required to make Warwicks batted again. An extra eight overs were enforced and Kirby was caught by Darren Maddy to give Metters his third wicket of the innings.

Somerset closed on 191-9, some five runs ahead.
