Warwicks Heading For County Championship Title

Warwickshire County Cricket Club are heading for the County Championship Division One title after play on the second day of their County Championship game at Worcestershire.

Warwicks resumed at New Road on 215-2 and moved the total onto 259 when Troughton went for 54.

Johnson went for one and Clarke eleven and with the score on 380, Varun Chopra's superb innings of 195 from 358 balls was ended when he was bowled by Leitch.

Blackwell and Keith Barker moved the score on until Blackwell went for 84 and Barker 40 and Warwicks declared on 471-8, leaving Worcestershire needing 412 to avoid an innings defeat.

Hughes only lasted five balls before he nudged a catch to Will Porterfield to give Keith Barker his sixth wicket of the match.

Warwicks, who will be without Jon Trott for the CB40 Final and the rest of the season, took a second wicket when Pardoe was caught by Westwood off the bowling of Clarke.

Worcestershire closed on 100-2, some 311 runs behind.
